Bootstraps PA is a local help-navigation project for Lackawanna County. It is designed to make it easier for people to find food, shelter, legal help, public benefits, utility assistance, mental health support, recovery resources, pregnancy and family support, and other community services.
Why it exists
When someone is in crisis, they should not have to know the name of the right agency before they can find help. Bootstraps PA organizes resources by real-life situations, called Life Paths, so people can start with what is happening to them.
What makes it different
Bootstraps PA does not just list names and phone numbers. It also shows review notes, verification status, and update pathways so the community can help keep information accurate over time.
Mission
Bootstraps PA helps people find help. Clear review notes and community updates help create trust in the information people use.
Design principles
Built to feel usable in a hard moment.
Plain language first
The site starts with everyday problems like food, eviction, safety, utilities, transportation, benefits, and mental health.
Local and practical
The beta is focused on Lackawanna County and prioritizes information that helps someone decide who to contact next.
Honest about limits
Listings are not guarantees. The site is designed to show what has been reviewed and what still needs checking.
